These crisp cool fall months have traditionally been the start of an annual slow down in the number of projects in the installation phase. 2013 has bucked that trend for DSS and we continue to enjoy a substantial project log. Our fingers are crossed for another prosperous year in 2014.  A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of you who helped make it happen

In today's entry I wanted to introduce you to a unique new product line, Glow in the Dark pebbles and rocks.

Our latest additions to the DSS product line are three colors of  round or angular artificial rocks/pebbles which consists of Glow-in-the-Dark pigment and synthetic resin.  They are safe, non-toxic, and non-radioactive. The product is specially formulated from non-shrinking extremely hard polyester and is ideal for use in hand seeded concrete, terrazzo, Gravel-Lok bound surfaces, and mosaic applications. It also works well as a loose pebble in areas where vandalism/theft isn't an issue.  Use as a blend with other natural aggregates to stretch your budget, a little of this product goes a long way.  Get creative and come up with your own ornamental uses for this versatile product.

When exposed to light sources, the photoluminescent pigment within the aggregate becomes chemically excited and will afterglow (i.e. glow in the dark), initially very strongly, reducing slowly overnight. This is perfect for public and private use areas where most traffic occurs within the first few hours of nightfall. The glow is best seen in a dark area, where ambient light sources, such as streetlights and bright moonlight are absent. This product will not cast light on surrounding surfaces but does help increase the safety of dark areas by marking pathways in low light conditions.

This is not yesterday’s glow in the dark material. It has the capability to afterglow for 6-8 hours after having been charged during the day.  All three colors are available in the 1"-2" round "pebble" form or in 4 sizes (1/8"-1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 5/8") of the crushed "rock" form.  Please click on any of the pictures to view these products on our website.  Make sure to view the daytime color of each item as well.

Take a look at the images below showing a blend of of the three colors in a mosaic application at my favorite RandD location "My House".
